Duck (Japanese: カモ Kamo) is a dual-type Water/Flying Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves from Duckling starting at 50 days.

Biology

Duck is a beast wrapped in mystery. Much in the manner of a choice cut wrapped in bacon, the whiff of rumor serves only to whet the appetite of Duck chasers seeking to sink their teeth into juicy truth.

While little is known about Duck, there are a few bedrock facts known about Duck. Duck is bipedal, with two feet, two wings, and a round, feathered body. Duck's diet consists primarily of bread and its droppings are perfect cubes of condensed bread.

Amateur Duck hunters often mistake Duck for its lesser forms. In truth, these forms are now different species, but once they were shapes that Duck decided to try for a time, until it decided that it didn't like them anymore. When Duck discards a shape, the shape takes on its own unholy life. This is one reason why Duck's true form is so sparsely documented.

Duck scholars disagree about the means by which Duck achieves flight. Most subscribe to a Pan theory, so named in an ancient tome. However, most details aside from the name were lost to the ages, so modern scholars disagree on the interpretation of this theory. They fall largely into two camps. One side insists that Duck uses latent psychic powers to levitate, and so Duck achieves flight by believing that it can. The other claims that Duck powers its flight from the bread it eats. They theorize that the yeast in bread not only creates gas bubbles, but also quantum bubbles which Duck has the unique ability to harness to counteract quantum gravity, thereby achieving flight. Some scholars in this camp are even known to carry around bags of crackers or other unleavened bread in the hopes that, if they ever chance across Duck, they can stuff it with quantally inert food, thereby cutting off its primary means of escape.

Major appearances

Duck first appeared in the anime in the 1934 episode The Wise Little Hen, part of the Silly Symphonies series, in which Duck feigns a belly ache to get out of helping the Wise Little Hen with chores.

Duck next appeared in the Mouse cartoon Orphans' Benefit as one of a number of characters who are giving performances in a benefit for orphans. Duck tries to recite various poems, but every time is heckled by the mischievous orphans, leading to a fit of squawking rage.

In The Band Concert, Duck repeatedly disrupts the Mouse Orchestra's rendition of The William Tell Overture by playing Turkey in the Straw.

In 1937, Duck appeared in Porky's Duck Hunt, in which Duck outsmarts Porky's various attempts to hunt.

Minor appearances

Duck has appeared in every episode of the anime, often in a single frame, as part of a rumored legal settlement between The Pokémon Company and Uri Geller.[1]

Game locations

Generation I
Red Blue
Vermilion City (only one): after defeating the Elite Four and Blue 9,997 times (not more, not less), speak to Daisy, then spin widdershins three times (four times during a blood moon). This marks the commencement of the ritual and calls the attention of the forgotten PokéGods, robbed even of their names by the usurper, Sinnoh the Snake. From this point on, the least misstep will corrupt the Game Pak so blackly that to purify it will require the cleansing breath of no less than three holy women. Exit Daisy's house and Teleport to Vermilion City, enter the Pokémon Center, and sacrifice a level 100 Mewtwo. After observing a respectful mourning period, proceed directly to the truck next to the S.S. Anne at the harbor. Upon using Strength in front of the truck, Duck will be added to storage in Mewtwo's place
Blue (Japan)
Pallet Town: due to a bug, Duck is added to storage any time the player spins widdershins in front of Daisy
